High Soil Phosphorus Application Significantly Increased Grain Yield, Phosphorus Content but Not Zinc Content of Cowpea Grains

چکیده
To ameliorate the impact of soil phosphorus (P) deficiency on cowpea, use P-based fertilizers is recommended. Plant zinc (Zn) an essential nutrient required by plants in a wide range processes, such as growth hormone production and metabolism. However, negative association between plant Zn content high P application has been reported some crops. There are few reports about relationship cowpea. Thus, this study investigated response cowpeas to three rates screenhouse (0, 1.5, 30 mg P/kg) field 10, 60 kg P2O5/ha) their effects content, biomass, grain yield. In screenhouse, shoot root dry weights, were measured. Shoot weight, yield, P, contents determined from plants. Higher led increased biomass yield experiment but not associated with significant change or content. was correlation (p < 0.05). The effect higher reduced may be genotype-dependent could circumvented if genotypes under identified.

Content and relative bioavailability of phosphorus in distillers dried grains with solubles in chicks.
Total phosphorus analysis was performed on 20 samples of corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS), and three experiments were conducted to determine the bioavailability of P in different samples of DDGS varying in Lys digestibility and heat processing (autoclaving). Relative bioavailability of P was estimated from tibia ash using the slope ratio method after chicks were fed a P-deficie...
متن کاملIncreased Arginine Biosynthesis during Phosphorus Deficiency : A Response to the Increased Ammonia Content of Leaves.
The accumulation of arginine in leaves of four citrus rootstock cultivars during P deficiency has been demonstrated to be due to increased de novo synthesis rather than decreased catabolism or increased protein degradation (E Rabe, CJ Lovatt, 1984, Plant Physiol 76: 747-752). In this report, we provide evidence (a) that the increased activity of the arginine biosynthetic pathway observed for ci...
متن کاملEffects of Phosphorus and Copper on Factors Influencing Nutrient Uptake, Photosynthesis, and Grain Yield of Wheat
Application of large amounts of phosphorus fertilizers is used to enhance early plant growth and yield of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). This practice can lead to an accumulation of phosphorus in soil and a reduced copper uptake by plants which may result in a reduction of plastocyanin concentrations in chloroplasts. As a result, photosynthetic rates and crop yield can be adversely affected. Whi...

To evaluate the effects of different levels of iron (Fe) (from Fe-nano-chelate and Fe-EDDHA sources) on growth parameters, concentration and absorption of Fe and some nutrients in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) in a calcareous soil, a greenhouse experiment was conducted based on completely randomized design with three replications. Treatments consisted of four levels of Fe (0, 0.135, 0.270 and 0.40...
متن کاملEffects of Sulfur Application on Soil pH and Uptake of Phosphorus, Iron and Zinc in Apple Trees
The main reasons for the fixation of some elements and consequently nutrient deficiencies, especially phosphorus, iron and zinc, are high levels of calcium (calcareous soils) and soil pH. Two sulfur fertilizers (sulfur alone and sulfur + organic material + Thiobacillus spp.) with two rates (2 and 4 kg sulfur/tree) were used to decrease soil pH and availability of P, Fe and Zn in apple trees dur...
